Student Affairs Funding Priorities
There are many ways to support and enhance the Mizzou student experience. Priorities are listed below, and gifts at all levels are welcome and appreciated.
Distinguished speakers series
Mizzou Convocations, the university’s distinguished speakers series, will connect leaders who are nationally and internationally known in their respective disciplines with our students in a compelling dialogue. This series will feature preeminent scholars, scientists, business leaders, politicians, artists and writers and will be open to all Mizzou students.
Leadership development
Active participation in leadership experiences helps students meet their personal, academic and professional goals. By enhancing existing programs and developing new programs and resources, we can help more students find leadership opportunities and hone their leadership skills. Mizzou’s student leadership initiatives and programs include the Chancellor’s Leadership Class, Emerging Leaders, Greek Life, Global Leadership Program, leadership workshops and the Leadership Certificate Program. Leaders at Mizzou become leaders for life!
New Student Center
Brady Commons was built in 1963 as an addition to Memorial Union. Despite past renovations and additions, it lacks sufficient space for the current student population to eat, study, hold meetings, and host student clubs and organizations. The new Student Center will offer more space for students to study; socialize and interact with faculty and peers; get involved in student programs and activities; gain hands-on experience with student media, including the Maneater, KCOU and MUTV; develop leadership skills through Greek Life; enjoy improved and diverse dining alternatives; and celebrate the history and traditions that define the Mizzou experience. More than simply the “living room” of campus, the new Student Center will provide opportunities that integrate out-of-classroom learning, leadership development and community involvement.
Mizzou Student Experience Fund
It is important that we nurture the whole student in all that we do. From where the students live and eat to where they study and play, Student Affairs works to maintain a positive living and learning environment that will result in healthier, happier students. These students will graduate determined and able to make a difference in the world around them. Gifts to the Mizzou Student Experience Fund will be used by the vice chancellor of Student Affairs for important programs and projects that enhance the Mizzou experience for all students. Through this fund, we can meet an urgent need or take advantage of an unplanned opportunity.
