“Student Affairs is a fabulous place to get professional experience while still in school.”

Graphic designer

Responsibilities

Design print and digital materials for all of the UM campus stores, Missouri Student Union, MizzouRec, Campus Dining, Residential Life and student organizations. It’s exciting to be able to work with such a wide variety of clients. Each has a specific branding standard guide to learn and master, and it’s wonderful experience to be able to communicate with real clients about your designs.

Favorite projects

I love working on any designs for the Campus Activities Programming Board. Their events are so creative, so I’m always able to pitch out-of-the-box design ideas to them.

What I’ve learned

One really unique thing about being a designer here is that you truly see your projects from start to finish. As soon as I get assigned to a job, I brainstorm and sketch my ideas. Then, I’ll design my project and go through both the internal and external proofing processes. I even learned how to print all of my materials (including large posters on a plotter) and package and send them to the clients once my designs have been approved. I will leave this job knowing the ins and outs of the design process, from start to finish.

Why You Should Consider Working for Student Affairs
“The management team is incredibly flexible and understanding when it comes to balancing school and work. The team is so fun, and I am so thankful I stumbled upon my position on hiremizzoutigers.com my freshman year.”
