“This internship gave me a sense of how the professional world works in videography. I learned to work with scripts, capture footage and b-roll, log footage and work with proofs.”

Michael Boyer, BJ ’19

Hometown: Festus, Missouri

Fun fact: “I’m an FAA-licensed drone pilot.”

Responsibilities: Shot and edited videos. Constructed and told stories.

Main project: Interviewed student leaders to have a welcome message for incoming freshman. Most of the 12 leaders were interviewed remotely via Skype. The finished project was well received. On move-in day, students were telling me they had watched it, which was very cool and rewarding.

What Others Say

“I’ve had a chance to work with many talented students in my time at Mizzou, and Michael is certainly one of them. He led the production of Chancellor Alexander Cartwright’s welcome video for the 2019 Show Me Mizzou Day. Michael was a tremendous team leader, a confident and responsive communicator, and a whiz when it came to filming and editing.” – Gordy Sauer, executive communications specialist and senior writer for the chancellor

Why You Should Consider This Internship

“This job prepared me for graduation. The whole job is based on how to improve students’ talents. Student Affairs is really good at creating an environment where students can comfortably work. They’re very flexible with scheduling. It doesn’t feel like intern work. It’s an awesome place to learn and grow.”
