With spring unfolding all around us, now may feel like a good time to get out of your room and get some exercise.

Staying active is a great way to protect your mental and physical health. You don’t have to be a champion athlete to benefit. Any level of physical activity is good for you, even just walking or completing household chores.

Many of you have been using the resources of MizzouRec to stay healthy during the winter months. Those same facilities and services remain available to you as the temperatures warm up. In fact, MizzouRec will be open over spring break for those of you staying on campus.

That’s because MizzouRec is more than just a gym. Thousands of students have found their place at MizzouRec over the years. Its mission is to enhance the recreation experience of our community through its programs, facilities and other services.

So as the days get longer and warmer, now’s the perfect time for a pick-up game on Stankowski Field or hitting the MizzouRec trail. Whatever your activity, MizzouRec has something for you.

Many students enjoy the camaraderie, competition and challenges that intramural sports offer. Intramural sports are open to anyone with a MizzouRec membership. Players can form or join teams or sign up as free agents year-round in nine different indoor and outdoor sports.

Another outlet for your competitive side is club sports. While intramural sports teams play each other, club sports teams play against other colleges or universities.

Speaking of teams, MizzouRec is now home to Venture Out, where teambuilding activities help students and others grow as groups and individuals. Get your organization together and explore the team challenge course, odyssey high ropes course and alpine climbing tower.

There’s so much you can learn at MizzouRec. Learn to swim, or swim better. Become a fitness instructor, a lifeguard or earn your first aid, CPR or AED certification.

MizzouRec is also a great place to work. MizzouRec employees find purpose and community on the job. Right now, Team Mizzou is hiring for member and guest service frontline staff and they regularly hire for many other positions.

Take some time to explore everything MizzouRec has to offer. You’ll be glad you did.
